Moonflower Musings is the herbalism blog of Sarah Baldwin, an Indiana-based writer and herbal adventurer (see bio below). With a deep love of nature and the green world, Sarah's interests in herbalism are both practical and spiritual. She views herbalism as not just a clinical practice, but a spiritual one. It's a way of life.

This blog is grounded in the physical uses of plant medicine, including recipes, remedies, growing tips, and applications of the herbal world. We also delve into the subtle energies of plants and talk about their particular personalities and archetypes. Sarah's interests in shamanism and plant spirit healing inform these discussions. She believes that both aspects of herbalism--physical and spiritual--can be united for ultimate healing.

About Sarah

Sarah Baldwin is a writer who grew up in the woods of southern Indiana. She is the author of The Herbal Healing Deck, an oracle deck featuring 48 medicinal plants, which you can buy on Amazon or other online retailers. Her articles have been featured in numerous print and online publications, including Plant Healer Magazine, The Herbarium The New Agora, Branches Magazine, and Spirit’s Voice Magazine, for which she served as a photojournalist for the Wanderlust yoga and music festival in 2013 and 2014. Sarah was a presenter at the Good Medicine Confluence in 2017 and will return to teach again in 2018. With a deep love for all things mystical and spiritual, Sarah was first attuned to Reiki at age 13 and became a Reiki Master in 2007. She also earned a BA in Communication and Culture from Indiana University in 2007.

As both a teacher and student of herbalism, she seeks to share the healing power of nature with others. She believes that deepening the connection between humankind and nature will serve to heal both. Her herbal experience includes completing the Herbaculture internship program at Herb Pharm in 2010, attending a Matthew Wood herbalism workshop in 2011, teaching, organic farming and gardening, creating Moonflower Medicinals, her line of natural healing products from 2008-2012, treating her family and friends with herbal remedies...and reading massive amounts of books!

When she is not knee-deep in plants, Sarah enjoys practicing yoga, dance, and music. She seeks to keep her finger on the pulse of mystery and magic while always serving the Light to the best of her ability.
